Coleen Sue (Divish) Crampton

Passed away October 6, 2021, after a short illness. Coleen was born May 16, 1947, in Jackson, Michigan to Laura (Schafer) and Joseph Divish. Coleen was born and raised in the Napoleon area, graduating from Napoleon High School in 1965. In 1971, she married Tom Crampton, and they built a family of four beautiful daughters. Coleen stayed home to raise her girls, and then began her career in health care. She worked at Foote Hospital for over 20 years as a ward clerk in the ER, advancing to Secretary for the Dietary, and then Administrative Secretary for Information Technology. After her retirement, she and Tom designed and constructed their dream retirement home on Lake Columbia, where they often spent time on their pontoon fishing and enjoying lake life with friends.

Coleen was an avid Michigan fan, sharing her love of the University with Tom as season ticket holders for thirty plus years and faithful fans even during the tough losses to MSU and Ohio State. In addition, Coleen enjoyed traveling with Tom; their most significant trip was traveling the entire Route 66 in an eight-foot pop-up trailer over seven weeks, from Chicago to Santa Monica in 2015. She also enjoyed being with friends at the Grotto Club, where she was an active member. When Coleen showed up to join friends for drinks and watching the game, you knew she was there. But most of all, Coleen was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and person. Rarely would anyone have a conversation with her without hearing about her children or grandchildren. She would always trek to Detroit or Clare, or even across the Midwest, to support her grandchildren in every way possible. She was one of their biggest fans, sitting through 90-degree soccer games, hours long band performances, or watching endless Christmas programs. You were never left wondering if you were loved and appreciated when she was around.

Coleen was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rebecca Lyne, in 1973, as well as both of her parents. Survived by her husband of 50 years, her daughters, Melissa (Pete) DeRoche, Sara (Dan) Webb, Kelli (Rob) Clifton and her five grandchildren: Peter, McKenzie, Kylie, Marin, and Beckett. Coleen also leaves behind her sister, Diane (Mike) Buckley, brother Don (Alison) Divish, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to friends from the lake, Grotto staff and club, sports officials, and others who came forward with love and support during this challenging time. We would be remiss not to recognize the excellent care and support provided to Coleen and the family by the dedicated Henry Ford Allegiance Health ER, sixth floor Medical ICU team and all the ancillary support staff. Special kudos to the physician ICU medical team and the tireless efforts of the nursing staff; Jill, Amber, Amy, John, Kelsie, Rita, Hunter, Lydia, Janelle, Jordan, and Sam. If we missed anyone, we apologize but know that we appreciated every one of you.

Visitation will take place Monday, October 11, 2021, from 3-7 PM. at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home, 1806 E. Michigan Avenue, Jackson, MI 49204. Catholic Mass and Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 913 Napoleon Road, Michigan Center, MI 49254 at 11:00 AM, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Internment at Roseland Cemetery, followed by a luncheon served at the Grotto Club. Everyone is welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of both Coleen and Rebecca, Wounded Warriors, or Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Coleen, I'll always remember meeting you all those years ago in 1992 when y'all drove down here to S.C. so Melissa could be in my wedding, and we could Finally meet for the first time since we became pen pals in the 5th grade. I still have the cream colored blanket you knitted for me as a wedding gift, and will always Cherish it.
