Beloved wife, mother, aunt, and friend, Tina passed away on October 21, 2025, at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson. Tina was born on October 9, 1945, to Walter and Helen Planeta, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother Jerry, sister Elaine, and brother-in-law Willard "Bill" Tansley. Tina is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Gerald "Jerry," and their children Stacey, Brian, Jodie, and Kevin. She also leaves behind her cherished niece Kerstan Tansley, who held a special place in her heart. After her sister's passing, Tina became a special grandmother to Kyia and Jada Dorer. Tina was grandma to several granddogs who loved her like no other. The family wishes to thank Kerstan's significant other, Joe Doerer, Stefanie Spence and family friend, Kcortni Harris, for their presence, comfort, and compassion. Also, special thanks to the nurses in the cardiac unit at Henry Ford Hospital but especially nurse Angie who was Tina’s favorite. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1963, Tina began her career as an operator for Michigan Bell until it's Jackson office closed. She continued working elsewhere, including Ambs Call Center, before returning to Michigan Bell/AT&T as an operator and later Customer Service Representative until her retirement in 2001.
Tina enjoyed a very active retirement. She learned how to and golfed for several years. She was a lifelong bowler and an avid traveler, often traveling with her daughters. Tina also enjoyed countless day and weekend trips with friends to nearby casinos. Tina was a member of The Actively Living program at the Boos Center. Tina was a lifetime member of the Polish Falcons, often volunteering to serve at the fish dinners during Lent. She also loved playing bingo and spending time with her many dear friends at the Polish Legion of American Veterans (PLAV), where she served as Vice President and dedicated volunteer. Faith and service were cornerstones of Tina’s life. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where she could often be found baking and helping prepare funeral dinners. She also gave her time to the Interfaith Shelter, where she served those less fortunate with compassion and kindness.
Tina’s warmth, humor, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a void that can never be filled and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who knew her.
Memorial Service to be held at Our Lady of Fatima on November 15th at 11am with lunch immediately following. The family will receive visitors from 10am - 11am.
