

Of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the age of 66, with his family at his side while under the kind and compassionate care of the staff at the Henry Ford Hospice Home. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marilla Kirkpatrick; seven children, Randy Steiner, Tonya Mast, Tracey Goodman, Tabitha (Boomer) VanFleet, Kevin Kirkpatrick, Robert (Mandie) Goodman and Tori (Jeremy) Lewin; 19 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Ron Kirkpatrick and Theresa (Doug Hopkins) Sharpe, Delores (Scott) Kivi, Charles Johnson and Floyd Johnson, Jr.; as well as many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. Darol was preceded in death by his father, Charles Kirkpatrick; mother, Joyce Johnson, bonus dad, Floyd Johnson; infant son, Darol Jr.; sister, Joyce McMurtrie; brother, Joe Johnson and his brother from another mother, Todd Waite. Darol was born in Jackson, Michigan on December 26, 1957 and is a 1977 Graduate of Western High School. Darol and Marilla married on June 6, 1992 and together they combined and raised their family. He spent his career in the mechanical trades. He started at Jackson Auto Salvage then later became an industrial mechanic for Allen Aide. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions and Michigan State, spending time with family and friends cooking out and NASCAR. Darol made it a priority to be involved with his grandchildren’s sporting events and was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagle post 612. According to his wishes cremation has been chosen and there will be a Celebration of his life on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M.
