David Brooks Andrews Sr.

David Brooks Andrews Sr., 70, passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will forever cherish the example he set. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful follower of Christ, and a man whose integrity, strength, and kindness touched everyone who knew him.

Born on May 3, 1956, to Emerson Brooks and Gloria (Dodi) Andrews, Dave lived a life rooted in faith, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. He was married to the love of his life, Nancy, for 48 wonderful years. Together they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and unconditional love.

Dave was the proud father of Heather (Chris) Sharp, Erica (Bryan) DeVries, and David (Drue) Andrews. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, Aiden, Devin, Caroline, and Carson. Whether he was gathered around the grill preparing a meal, casting a fishing line on a peaceful day, or simply enjoying time together, Dave treasured every moment with those he loved.

Known for his strong work ethic and unquestionable integrity, Dave approached everything he did with honesty and dedication. He was the kind of man others looked up to—a man whose word could always be trusted. To his children, he was more than a father; he was a source of wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering support. They knew they could turn to him for anything, and he never hesitated to be there when they needed him.

Above all else, Dave loved the Lord. His faith guided the way he lived, the way he loved others, and the legacy he left behind. His life was a reflection of humility, compassion, and steadfast devotion to God and his family.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Nancy Andrews; his children, Heather (Chris) Sharp, Erica (Bryan) DeVries, and David (Drue) Andrews; his cherished grandchildren, Aiden Andrews, Devin Andrews, Caroline DeVries, and Carson DeVries; his nephew and best friend, John Parks; his siblings, Diana Parks, Carole Gittere, Jim (Kathy) Andrews, and Gloria (Tom) Rose; his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Shari (Rich) Walters, Jerry (Carolyn) Smith, and Sandra (Cheryl) Smith-Engle;; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson Brooks and Gloria (Dodi) Andrews; his brother, John Edward Andrews; and his parents-in-law, Gail and Jerry Smith.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of his Savior. His example of faith, love, perseverance, and selflessness will continue to live on through the countless lives he impacted.

The family will forever remember Dave as a man who loved fiercely, worked tirelessly, gave generously, and found his greatest joy in serving the Lord and spending time with those he loved. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the memories that will be treasured for generations.

Arrangements are being handled by Burden & Patience Montgomery Funeral Home, 1806 E Michigan Ave, Jackson, Michigan 49202. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 4PM to 7PM with a Memorial Service at the Funeral home on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude in Dave’s name. To honor Big Dave’s legacy do not feel the need to dress fancy and just come as you are.
