

Of Jackson, passed away at the age of 73 on Sunday, June 4, 2023 under the care of his family and Henry Ford of Jackson Hospice. He is survived by his two children, Matthew (Nicole) Jackson and Danielle (Christopher) Traina; three grandchildren, Aiden, Oliver and William. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Thomas "Scotty" and Alfred "Alfie" Jackson. Desi was born on January 5 1950, to George and Jean (Abram) Jackson in Alma, Michigan. He was the first in his family born in the United States and proudly spoke of his Scottish heritage. Desi graduated from Alma High School in 1969 and later obtained his Associates from Jackson Community College. He began his employment with Oldsmobile in Lansing, Michigan and shortly after enlisted and proudly served with the 82nd Airborne in the United States Army during Vietnam. He returned to Michigan and retired as a Corrections Officer with over 20 years of loyal service. Desi enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson taking beautiful scenic trips with his children and friends. He was a master of storytelling, captivating any audience he was given, usually to end it with a joke you never saw coming. Although he seemed intimidating at times due to his large stature and deep loud voice, he was the most kind and loving person. Desi was always willing to help others in whatever capacity when he was able to. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. According to his wishes, cremation has been chosen and he will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery (15501 Dickman Road Augusta, Michigan 49012) on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 9:30 A.M. with Military Honors.
