Dixie Darlene Foster

Of Jackson, MI passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the age of 91. Dixie was born on April 10, 1934, in Jackson Michigan to parents Cecil and Herma Howard. Dixie’s greatest joy was her family, which began with her beloved husband of 61 years, John Foster. As a child she enjoyed helping her father at Howard’s Feed Store, where she developed a strong love for animals which she passed down to her children and grandchildren. Dixie found joy in nature, particularly the simple pleasure of gardening. She cherished her getaways to the family cabin in Petoskey and looked forward to frequent, memorable trips to Shipshewana with her daughter, Diana. To her six grandchildren, Dixie was simply the best. Her home was always filled with warmth and fun, characterized by legendary pool parties and endless sleepovers. She was famous for spoiling them rotten with special treats and lovingly delivering breakfast in bed. Her generous spirit and loving nature created countless treasured memories that will live on. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, and a dedication to family that will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Dixie is survived by her loving daughter, Diana (Rusty) Stewart; daughter-in-law Erin Foster (Richard); and her adored grandchildren: Dylan, Taylor, Ashley, and Nicholas Foster, Kayla Minniear, and Hanna Schwartz. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Foster; her parents, Cecil and Herma Howard; and her son, Richard Foster.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park- Oak Chapel (1425 N Elm Ave.) followed by a private family service. Dixie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband John at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
