Of Napoleon, Michigan passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 92. Doris was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 14, 1933, to parents Emma Marlene Mary Wurtz Neilsen and Harold Monroe Weigle. She married her husband of 28 years, James Carl Thompson, on March 19, 1976. Doris loved spending time with her family and traveling with Jim. She enjoyed making jewelry and reading and had wonderful friends from her church group. Doris is survived by her children Debora Johnson of Lapeer, Michigan, Diane (Pedro) Rios of Texas, Danny (Debbie) Houchlei of Napoleon, Michigan, and Donna Wisswell of Oklahoma; stepson Randy (Trisha) Thompson; many grandchildren she loved spending time with; many great and great-great grandchildren; and sister Shirley Andrews of Florida. She is preceded in death by the love of her life James Thompson in 2004, three sisters, and her parents.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place with burial to take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery for both Doris and Jim on June 15, 2026 at 1:00 P.M.
