

Of Tompkins Center, MI passed away on April 26, 2016 at the age of 96. She was born on April 13, 1920 in Rives Junction, MI to parents George and Blanche Lewis. Edna married the love of her life, Hugh W. Taylor, in January of 1937. She worked as a store clerk for Taylor’s Texaco for many years. Edna’s many activities included: member of Tompkins Grange, Secretary of Tompkins Cemetery Association for 40 years, Travel Trailer Club Treasurer for 22 years, member of Northwest Theater Guild, 70 year member of Tompkins Extension Club, and she was a lifetime member of Tompkins Historical Society. She was secretary for the Jackson County 4-H Club programs for many years; loved to play piano, clarinet, sax; she sewed her own clothes all her life; loved vacationing on their motorcycles in her younger days; and was an avid animal lover. Edna is survived by her daughters, Dolores (Owen) Knoll and Myra Jane (Lawrence) Elevado; grandchildren, Dora Komaromi, Bryan (Judy) Passick, Jeff (Stephanie) Elevado, Annette (Raymond) West; fourteen great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Marilyne) Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hugh (2006), and three sisters. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the funeral home at 11:00 am with visitation on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 2:00-5:00 pm. Edna will be laid to rest next to her husband at Tompkins Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Tompkins Historical Society.
