Elsie M. Valentine

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 88 surrounded by loved ones. Elsie was born on February 14, 1937, to parents Kenneth and Elsie Robinson in Charlotte, Michigan. Elsie was a homemaker for many years before becoming a cook at the Wooden Spoon and the local hospital and then transitioning to Jacobson’s Warehouse where she retired from. Elsie enjoyed dancing, going to the lake, camping with her sister Sandy, and going out to eat with her many groups of friends. Of course, anyone who knew Elsie knew not to mess with her food lest you be stabbed by the nearest utensil. Elsie was quick to smile and loved to laugh, known for her shenanigans. Elsie loved her grandchildren and spending as much time as she could with them. Elsie is survived by her children Bruce (Cheryl) Roberts, Dale (Tina) Roberts, and Heidi Roberts; grandchildren Korey (Andrea) Roberts whom she helped raise, Benjamin (Amanda) Roberts, Tammy (James) Drinkwine, Nichole McDaniel, and Zachary Roberts; great-grandchildren Luke, Jeremiah, Elizabeth, Gabriel, Emerson, Katie, Daniel, Bradly, Sierra, Alex, Elly, Charlie, James Jr., Zion, Kaiden, Cameron, Chase, Lilly and August; sister Sandra Ratliff; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years Gerard Valentine, brother Kenneth Robinson, sister Caroline Holt, and other loved ones. Per her wishes cremation has taken place, a graveside service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 2:00PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park (1425 North Elm Street Jackson MI 49202). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to: Interfaith Shelter (414 S Blackstone St, Jackson, MI 49201) or charity of one's choice.
