Eugene C. Burton

September 26, 1925March 1, 2014

Mr. Eugene Burton died of natural causes at the John George Home, where he has been a resident the past 7 years, on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the age of 88. He was born in Jackson, Michigan on September 26, 1925. At an early age, his lust for life took him on many adventures. He lived in multiple states, including California, Oregon and Florida, always returning to his home town of Jackson. He fought bravely in World War II and received the Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge. He continued his service to our country in all branches. Geno, as most of his friends knew him, was larger than life. He was a jack of all trades and a master of none. He was an excellent bowler, golfer, dancer, and later in life took up the game of darts. He was a fierce competitor using every tool he had to win. He tirelessly worked to excel in any endeavor he undertook. He owned several businesses including a party store, a bowling alley, a laundromat and a landscape business. He was the life of the party and always had a quick smile and a hardy laugh. He had a passion for the ladies until his last breath. Geno is survived by his daughter, Lisa Haskins; his son, Spencer Burton; his sister, Connie Cole; his grandsons, Joseph and Anthony Carman; and his great grandson, Joe Jr. A service honoring his life will be held at the John George Home (1501 E. Ganson, Jackson 49202) on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 1:00P.M.

I was married to Geno for 17 good years. He will always have a place in my heart. He was so good to my children and my mother. He took such good care of us all. I was out of town when he passed and didn't know of his passing until I returned, to my regret. Thanks to my son Scott for standing in for me. So sorry Lisa, Spence and Connie.. We will all miss him and have good memories. Rest with God Geno! You are missed. Judy

Geno was ALWAYS laughing. As my stepfather of many years, I got to know and appreciate him for who he was, about which he made no explanations or excuses. He lived life on HIS terms. Requiscat In Pace, my friend!

I had the opportunity to meet Geno when he married my husband's mother back in the 80's. We spent a lot of time with Geno in Oregon, Florida and Michigan, and he was always ready to have a good time. We are very sorry to hear of his passing and are happy we had so many good times together. Goodbye, Grandpa Geno - our memories of you, your children and your sister will always be special.
