

Longtime Jackson resident Gene Cote passed away February 16, 2017 after a stay at Dimondale Nursing Care Center. He was born on June 19, 1930 to Mervin and Maybelle Cote. Gene was a 1948 graduate of Jackson High. He was an avid harness horseman and outdoorsman. He could always be found in box 100 at Jackson Raceway if he didn’t have a horse racing. In his later years he could be found swimming across our local lakes. Gene was a Veteran of the Koran War. He is survived by his children; LuGene (Kevin) Broxholm, Collin (Darla) Cote, James (Shawn) Cote and stepson David Wells, grandchildren; Mirinda Sildack, Trenton (Melissa) Sildack, Brett Broxholm, Erika (Kurt) Jarrett, Valerie Cote, Emily Cote, step grandchildren; Amanda (Bob) Wells, Megan Wells, Mark Broxholm, Dawn (Duane) Pape, John (Amber) Mayfield and Vincent Cook, Two great grandchildren; Isabella Sildack and Carson Jackson, sibling; William E. Cote and nephew; Mark Cote. Gene was preceded in death by his wife; June (Hicks) Cote, sibling; Donald Cote, and nephew; Scott Cote. Per his wishes cremation has taken place, a celebration of Gene’s life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home, family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Gene’s memory to the Jackson County Animal Shelter (3370 Spring Arbor Rd., Jackson MI.49203).
