Georgia "Marcella" Borgert

Of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the age of 90. She was a resident of Vista Grande Villa, Trellis Gardens. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne (Douglas) Tripp; four grandchildren, Erick (Stephani) Smith, Abbey (Steven) Smith, Kailee (Kyle) Smith, and Douglas Tripp Jr.; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Sandra Harris; brother, Robert (Charlene) Duncan; as well as several nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her longtime and loving companion, Herman “Bud” Unger; also grandson, Troy Tripp; sister, Weda Hatler, and brother, Charles Duncan. Georgia was born to Hauty and Ora (Elrod) Duncan in Kevil, KY on December 25, 1927. She moved to Jackson with her parents when her father relocated for work in the automotive industry and she attended Jackson Public Schools. Georgia was a hardworking woman and was proud to be a part of the Union and what it meant for the American working woman. She enjoyed bowling, going to the casino, and traveling to Florida annually with her “Golden Girls”. She touched the hearts and lives of many and will be greatly missed. A service to honor her life will be held at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Michael Mason officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
