

Gladys transitioned to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 5, 2025. She was born in Henning, Tennessee to Ora Mae & L.J. Griffin, Sr. on March 17, 1943. Gladys was educated by the Lauderdale County school district and attended Ripley High School. Sometime later, Gladys moved on to reside in Boston, Massachusetts, where she met her soon-to-be forever husband, Stephen Ramsey. Gladys and Stephen decided to move to Gladys ‘hometown of Jackson, Michigan, where they became one on August 26, 1974. Gladys worked as a nanny before becoming employed by Sparton Corporation where she retired early to become a homemaker. Gladys loved to travel, take care of her family, and shop. Gladys was full of personality and had lots of spunk. Gladys also loved to host her summer barbecues and have a house full of family from all over. Stephen and Gladys have two loving children who survive them, Lenard (Patricia) Griffin and Artesha Ramsey; six grandchildren DeWayne (Brittany) Ramsey, LaToya (Jeffrey) Thigpen, Tiffany Thompson, Shawnta Swank, LaPorcha Swank, and Jutione Hall; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings Elizabeth Griffin, Ora Jean Davis, Juanita (Ivan) Loular, and Michael Griffin; and a host of nieces and nephews. Gladys is preceded in death by her mother Ora Mae Griffin and father L.J. Griffin Sr.; her daughter Kelsey Rene Sangster; her beloved grandson Jamaal Ramsey, whom she held near and dear to her heart; her siblings Arlene Jackson, L.J. Griffin Jr., Willie Joe Griffin, and Jimmie Lee Griffin; and her dear friend Louise White. The Ramsey family would like to thank Patricia Griffin, Juanita Loular, Sandra Steward and Richard Holmes for all the care that was given to Gladys over the years. She will be missed tremendously by her family and friends. A Going Home service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Burden & Patience - Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson Michigan 49202) with Family Hour from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Gladys will be entombed next to her husband Stephen at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
