Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, at the age of 91 went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving daughters. Her daughters would like to acknowledge her doctor, Ajovi Scott, nursing staff, Great Lakes Hospice and in home caregivers. Hazel was born on February 22, 1927 in Asheville, NC to the late Oliver George Patton and Henrietta Lawson-Tucker. She was also preceded in death by her brother; Oliver George Patton, sisters, Carrie McConnell and Shirley Bicy. She attended Winston-Salem, North Carolina’s Teacher’s College. She taught in the Jackson Public School District (Helmer and Bennett) for 40 years. She was a beloved teacher who influenced many lives. She accepted the Lord at an early age and was a long time member of United Peoples Community Church. Hazel loved entertaining her family and friends. Hazel leaves to cherish her memory beloved daughters: Kipp Marie (Charles) Parker, Lezlie Lynn Bowles (Michael Gant), Barbara Jean (Donald) Parker; brother, Kenneth (Sue) Patton; sister, Joan Boldrey; grandchildren: Stephanie (John) Kopf, Christopher Parker; great grandson Christopher Parker II; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at Second Missionary Baptist Church (304 E. Prospect St. Jackson) on Friday August 31, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with family hour beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial Woodland Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Church Thursday from 5-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or charity of your choice.
