

Of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 91 at Jackson County Medical Care Facility. He was born in Greenville, PA to Forrest and Emma (Van Zandt) Unger. He lived in Jackson during his younger years, later living and working in several different states returning to Jackson to live in 1988. Bud was an automobile salesman for most of his life. He owned and operated a pool hall in Jackson for a number of years, as well. He loved cars, fishing and golfing. As his health deteriorated he enjoyed watching golf and football on TV. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He is survived by the love of his life, Georgia (Marcie) Borgert; son Michael and family of TX and daughter Terry Lynne of Kittredge, CO; step-daughter Yvonne (Douglas) Tripp Sr. of Jackson; grand-children Erick (Janet) Smith of Midland, MI, Abbey (Steven) Smith-Boyle of Jackson and Kailee Smith of Kalamazoo, MI ; step-grandchildren Troy (Marissa) Tripp of Ft. Wayne, IN and Douglas Tripp Jr. of Kalamazoo, MI. His great-grandchildren Elysia, Kayla, Tyler, Cody, Bella, Mollie were especially precious to him. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Cal and sister, Loretta. Bud served in World War II in the Marines and fought at the Battle of Guadalcanal. He was proud to have served and he carried the patriotism he learned in the Marines in his heart his entire life. A service honoring his life will be held at Cornerstone Christian Church (2395 W. High St. 49203) on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation at Chas. J. Burden & Son funeral home on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. and again at the Church from 12:00 noon until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of the Jackson County Medical Care Facility and Allegiance Hospice. In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Christian Church or Allegiance Hospice.
