

Of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the age of 97. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Duncan and Eldine Hawley; siblings, Richard "Toby" Moss, James Moss, and Luanna Davis; as well as her parents. She is survived by her children, William (Karen) Duncan, Fred (Sarah) Hawley, John (Ruth Ann) Hawley, Jane (Ron) McGee, and Bill (Sally) Hawley; eleven grandchildren, John (Jill) Duncan, Sara (Jeff) Yanke, Eric (Tanya) Hawley, Christopher (Jennifer Huls) Hawley, Robin (Tom Howell) Hawley, Pam (Nelson) Bailey, Kristin (Curtis Watson) Lewandowski, Denise (Nick) Farris, Mark Hawley, Patrick (Rebecca) Hawley, and Lisa (Jeff) Devine; seventeen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Betty Birdsong; many nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends; as well as her beloved cat, Noah. Irene was born in Kentucky on November 15, 1922 and relocated to Jackson in 1955 as a young mother. She worked briefly at Goodyear and then became a loving homemaker. She had a strong faith in the Lord and attended Wayne Street Church of God and St. John United Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking, and spending time with family. She touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed. A service to honor her life will be held at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest beside Mr. Hawley at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Countryside rehab for their kind and compassionate care.
