

Of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia and his son Thomas Hitt. He is survived by his daughter, Judith M. (Chuck) Walters; two grandchildren, Chuck (Melissa) Walters and Stacy Walters; Great-grandchildren, Zoe and Emmy Walters; daughter-in-law, Cathy Hitt, as well as many nieces and nephews. Irving graduated from East Jackson Schools. He was a proud veteran; he served in the U.S. Army with the 113th AAA Gun Battalion during World War II. He retired from Wyman-Gordon after 42 years of service. He enjoyed living on the lake and spending time outdoors. He was also an avid Tigers fan. A service honoring his life is scheduled at the funeral home on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Michael Mason officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Mr. Hitt will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Roseland Memorial Gardens with military honors. Those who wish may make contributions to the Paralyzed Veterans foundation in his honor.
