James was born in Jackson, Michigan, September 24, 1944 to Gerald and Geraldine (Devine) Ross.
He is survived by his children Annette, Anthony, Amie (James) and Eric (Angela); his sisters Gail (Jack), Joanne, Judith (Kevin) and Gloria (David); grandchildren Leslie, Donald Jr., Stacey, Autum, Jordan, Sean, Thomas and Luke; great-grandchildren Trevon Jr., and Roman; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law Jerry.
James followed in his father's footsteps, and was a carpenter all life. He enjoyed Westerns, both in movies and in books, as well as reading mysteries. He was a gambler, and enjoyed betting on horse races, and playing slots and Blackjack. He also loved watching sports, especially the Tigers and the Lions.
