

Age 86, of Jackson, Michigan passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William A. Turner; siblings, Bobby Coleman, Leonard Coleman, Clifford Coleman, Bill Coleman, Kathleen Valdez, and Carol Whedon. She is survived by her two children, Grant Turner and Jennifer Williams; grandchildren, Nathaniel Williams, Jaelle (Cory) Richardson, Zachary Williams, Kloee (Levi) Gray, Kaley Williams, William Williams, Daya Williams, Jayce Williams as well as many foster grandchildren; great grandchildren, Jaire, Maya, Princeton, Sienna, Amelia, Ellie, and Levi, Jr.
Janet was born in Kentucky on August 18, 1938, to Willie and Vesta Coleman and was a 1957 Graduate of Jackson High. She married William A. Turner on March 13, 1958, and together they raised a family. She and her husband Bill owned and operated Turner/Powers Adult Foster Care Home in Jackson for 36 years. Janet taught Sunday School, served as church secretary, and led the benevolence committee at Wayne St. Church of God. Her passion was helping others and lending a helping hand as often as she could. She spent time with many friends and family as they were transitioning from this life, her special gift was to offer peace and comfort to others. She was a kind and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver and she selflessly spent her life giving to others without complaint. She was passionate about adults and children in foster care and had a passion for doing whatever she could to make their lives better and meaningful. Her children and her grandchildren meant the world to her and her very special little dog Gordon was one of her best friends. She touched the Hearts and Lives of many and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service for Janet will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 East Michigan Ave., Jackson MI 49202) with visitation on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM and again on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 11:00 AM until time of service.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband William at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Catholic Charities to further their mission to help children in foster care.
