

Of Jackson, Michigan, formerly of Coopersville, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the age of 92. Nettie was born in Coopersville, Michigan on June 11, 1934, to parents John and Nettie Breen. She married her husband of 45 years, Frank H. Hall, Jr., on April 12, 1962. Nettie devoted much of her life to the work of teaching, serving students with steady commitment and care. She taught school briefly in Florida and Grandville, Michigan, and for most of her 31-year career in Jackson, Michigan. Together, Nettie and Frank ran Hall's Sleds, where they built dog sleds and related equipment. They raced several sled dog teams through the years and were active members of the International Sled Dog Association. Nettie served as President of the Great Lakes Sled Dog Association for many years and was also a long-time member of Mid-Union Sled Haulers. For the last 18 years of her life, Nettie lived in a retirement community, where she spent her time socializing, playing bingo, doing puzzles, painting, and watching sports on TV. Nettie is survived by her stepdaughter Laura Hall-Knapp; grandchildren John S. Knapp II and Andrea Knapp; sister Gerarda Fleming; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank H. Hall, Jr.; her parents John and Nettie Breen; siblings John Jr., Melvin, and Gerald Breen; and stepson Matthew H. Hall. Per her wishes, cremation has been chosen. A celebration of Nettie’s life will be held at a later date.
