Of Jackson, MI passed away at home on the farm under the care of his loving family on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the age of 81. Jerry was born in Boone, Iowa on November 1, 1939 to Samuel and Hannah (Martin) Smiley. He married his devoted wife Judith Beaudoin on January 23, 1959. Jerry was a Master Mechanic. He owned and operated Jerry's Standard at West Ave and Franklin for many years. After the station, he did his wrench bending Fletcher's Garage. Jerry finished his career at Jimmies Towing, working with his long time friend Bill Olney and the Olney boys. He enjoyed NASCAR, playing cards, drinking PBR with friends, and spending time with family where dinners were especially treasured. In addition to his parents and siblings he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Smiley and two daughters, Susan and Tammy; great grandson, Stormy and dear family friend “Uncle” Charlie Hesse. He is survived by daughter, Vicke (Michael) Kofflin; son, Jerry (Julie) Smiley, Jr.; grandchildren, Sarah, Paul, Seth, Devan and Drew; seven great grandchildren; brother Pete Smiley as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. He has been laid to rest beside his wife at Maxon Cemetery.
