Joan L. Boldrey Frentered eternal rest on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her residence at Vista Grande Villa in Jackson, Michigan. She was comforted in her final moments by her faithful caregiver, Crystal Wade, her devoted companion Sammy, who remained faithfully by her bedside.
Joan was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina, where she spent her early years surrounded by a loving family. She was the youngest of six siblings. As a young adult, she followed her brothers and sister to their beloved city of Jackson, Michigan, where she built her life marked by faith, dedication, and lasting friendships.
After settling in Jackson, Joan began a distinguished career with Consumer Energy, where she faithfully served for 43 years. Throughout her career, she held many positions and earned the admiration and respect of coworkers and supervisors alike. She was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help others.
Joan's greatest love, however, was her faith. Early in her years in Jackson, she embraced the faith of Jehovah's Witnesses and remained a devoted servant throughout her life. She found great joy in worship, attending congregation meetings, and participating in regular ministry of sharing her faith with others. Her relationship with Jehovah was the foundation of her life and brought her comfort, strength, and peace.
Beyond her work and ministry, Joan had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel. She was blessed to visit destinations throughout the world, many of them more than once. She treasured the experiences, friendships, and memories that those journey provided.
In recent years, Joan courageously faced a prolonged illness while residing at Vista Grande Villa. Even during this challenging season, she continued to make new friends, enjoyed visits from former coworkers, and appreciated the kindness shown by those who cared for her. Her quiet strength, gracious spirit, and warm smile continued to bless everyone she encountered.
Joan leaves to cherish her memory her beloved brother, Kenneth Patton; her devoted cousins, Ronnie and Sharon Alexander, who lovingly assisted in her care throughout her illness; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives she touched with kindness and love.
Joan will be remembered for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, generous heart, and steadfast love for family and friends. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Her favorite passage of scripture was Psalm 23, which brought her comfort throughout her life: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want..." Though Joan has departed from out sight, her life of faith, service, and love leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
