

Of Jackson, passed away at her home with her family by her side and under the care of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice, on Friday, November 26, 2021 at the age of 80. She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 58 years, Richard McEldowney; two sons, Robert (Terri) and Mark (Danice) McEldowney; grandchildren, Corey (Taylor) McEldowney, Ali (James) O’Donnell, Jocee McEldowney and Mark (Caroline) McEldowney; three great grandchildren, Nora, Sylvia and Olivia; sister, Marilyn (Donald) Gary and brother, Bruce (Nancy) Rockey; nieces, nephews, loving family members and many special friends. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by granddaughter, Madalyn McEldowney and younger brother, Brian Rockey. Joan was born in Charlotte, Michigan on July 7, 1941 to Kenneth and Agnes (Bosworth) Rockey and is a 1960 Graduate of East Jackson High School. She began her career as the only waitress at the Chicken Inn at one time. She married Richard in Las Vegas on January 15, 1964 while he was stationed in California during his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. They returned to Michigan with their young son and raised their family. Joan retired as a Dental Assistant after more than 40 years in the field. Together she and Richard danced for many years with local dance clubs and she enjoyed singing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed. A service to honor her life will be held at the Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Roseland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
