Of Jackson, died on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 80 while in the care of the staff at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. Affectionately known by his family as “Papa John” is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Zoa Pearl Edwards; seven children, twenty-one grandchildren; several great grandchildren as well as his sister, Nancy McKarge. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Edwards. He was born to John W. and Nona Edwards in Chicago, IL. On March 22, 1938 and is a Graduate of Garden City High School. “Papa John” was employed with Ford Motor Co. and then as a Journeyman Electrician until he retired in 1984. He along with his wife, then owned and operated two restaurants. He was an avid card player and fisherman, enjoyed playing golf, “Papa John” liked sharing jokes and telling tall tales. A celebration of his life will be held at JAXNAZ Church (3905 Clinton Road Jackson 49201) on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Phil Stout officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
