Of Jackson, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 7, 2011, under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Care, at the age of 42. He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Thacker Sr. He is survived by his mother, Doris Thacker; siblings, Carol (David) Thomas of Florida, Joanne (Jack) Webster of Tennessee, Richard Thacker, Rose (Frank) Foust, Phyllis (Russell) Scott, Teresa (Bill) Weaver, Alice (Jeff) Whitney; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews, all of Jackson. John was an avid NASCAR fan; he loved his family and was always willing to help when he was able to. With John's special needs came a special person. He was kind, loving and gave more to others than he sometimes received. He touched the hearts and lives of many and will be greatly missed. According to his wishes, cremation has been chosen and there will be a celebration of his life at a later date. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Cascades Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
