John Louis Pharms, age 74, of Jackson, MIchigan, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, September 21, 2026 . He graduated from Jackson High School, earned a Bachelor of Education at Western Michigan University, and a Master of Arts in education at Spring Arbor University.
As a teacher in Europe, he additionally coached sports in Spain and Denmark for eight years. John returned to the United States to continue his legacy of teaching and coaching, starting at Jackson High, then at the Southern Michigan State Prison Adult Education, from which he retired.
John was an example of kindness; offering a helping hand to anyone in need. he especially enjoyed working to help young students who were striving to achieve more in life.
John elected to be cremated. Memorial donations can be made to Jackson High School Sports or Spring Arbor university, School of Education Scholarship Fund.
