Age 95 of Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. Joy was born in Leachville, Arkansas on November 14, 1930, to George Marshall and Beulah (Bryant) Shanes.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sam McClung and son Gary McClung. She is survived by her daughter Betty (Gary) Behm; grandchildren DeAnna (Mike) Sioma, Jeff (Jessie) Behm, Kelsey (Justin) Newsome, Alexis (Justin) Devroy, Olivia and Samatha Murray, Jerad Demay and Jase McClung; and great grandchildren Emily Sioma, Bo Behm, Aurora, Lynnox, and Easton Newsome, and Hudson McClung; her sister Mary Wilson and several nieces and nephews.
She retired from East Jackson Community Schools where she was known for her cinnamon rolls and no-bake cookies. Joy was happiest in her kitchen cooking for her family, and they all had their favorite requests.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held.
