Karen Jean Walker, 82, of Jackson, MI, passed away peacefully in her home on October 17th, 2025, after giving a fierce and courageous fight with cancer. Born and raised in Jackson, Karen was known by all who met her as selfless, independent, and—true to her nature—stubborn as hell. She lived life on her own terms and faced every challenge with strength and determination. On September 10th, 1960, she married the love of her life, Charles Walker, and together they built a life full of laughter, love, and family.
Karen took pride in being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found joy in the simple things—shooting pool, gathering around bonfires, camping, deer hunting, hitting the casino to spin some slot machines, and helping anyone in need. Her heart was always open, and she never hesitated to lend a hand, share advice, or stand up for what she believed in. She worked for many years at Meijer and later at M&M Pit Stop, where she made lasting friendships and touched countless lives before retiring in 2023. Her work ethic, loyalty, and strength left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Karen is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Charles, her parents Beatrice (Hocking) and Robert Klee, her siblings Ronald Klee, Robert Klee, Rosie Havens, and Darlene Knickerbocker, her daughter Carolyn Walker, and her grandson Brandon Walker. She is survived by her loving children Charles (Kimberly) Walker, Kim Hutchings, and Eric (Amy) Walker; her grandchildren Pamela (Stanley) James, Tasha Walker, Tara (John Rhodes) Walker, Heather (Jon Mohr) Walker, Carlie Mitchell, Colin (Casey) Mroz, and Connor Walker; and her great-grandchildren Olivia James, Kaydynce James, Sara Oliver, Sam Walker, Jadrian James, Aurora James, Gavin Walker, Kennedi Mohr, Hailey Corravo, Baylei Mohr, Marcel Walker, Madilyn and Walker Mroz, and her great-great-granddaughter Briella Hall. Karen’s legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on through all who knew her. She was a strong, independent, and fierce woman who showed us what it means to fight hard, love deeply, and never give up. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace—free from pain, reunited with loved ones, and watching over us all. May we find strength in the example she set, courage in the memories she left us, and comfort in the love that will never fade. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Karen’s life will be held at The Fraternal Order of Eagles located at (301 Detroit Street Jackson, MI) on November 22, 2025 at 3:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by helping someone in need—just as Karen always did.
