Of Jackson, passed away on July 15, 2018 at home with family by his side, at the age of 84. Kaye was born on March 13, 1934 to parents, Charles E. and Marguerite M. (Loomis) Volkey in Lake Delton, Wisconsin. Kaye served our country in the Navy in the Korean War from 1952-1956. Kaye married Virginia Ann Nastally in Jackson, Michigan on December 5, 1981 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a truck driver by trade, typically hauling cars. He was a member of Grace Church for 10 years and a life member of the Tin Can Sailors and American Legion. He also was a member of the A. A. for 20 years. He loved to go to Birchwood, Wisconsin where he had a cottage on a private lake; he enjoyed fishing there. Kaye is survived by his wife of 36 years, Virginia Ann Volkey; children, Charles (Mary) Volkey, Donald (Karen) Volkey, and Tracy Tanier; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Joette (Raymond) Barsztsits, Susan (Peter) Hintz, and Charles Volkey; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Everhart; and brother, Larry Volkey. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home, 1806 E. Michigan Ave. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the DAV of Michigan or the charity of one’s choice.
