Larry married Marie Martin on August 3, 1985, and together they shared 40 years of marriage marked by steadfast love and devotion. A man known for his faithful presence and enduring strength, Larry met life with resilience, offering those around him the steady reassurance of someone who could be counted on—at home, at work, and in the community he served.
From 1966 to 1970, Larry served in the U.S. Navy. He later dedicated 28 years to the Lansing Fire Department, working his way through the ranks to become Battalion Chief. His career reflected a hard-working spirit and a deep sense of responsibility—service carried out with quiet pride, perseverance, and care for others.
For 20 years, Larry was a member of the Apostolic Outreach Church, where his faith remained a guiding foundation. Beyond his commitments, he found joy in playing tennis and golf, biking, and cheering on the Tigers. He also devoted 15 years to extensive WWII historical programs, including interviews with veterans, and hosted his own program—work that reflected both diligence and a sincere respect for the stories of others.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marie Martin; children Traci (John) Petrone and Stephani (Tony) Epps; Mark Grimes; Danny Mullins; daughter Cindy Mullins; grandchildren Kyle Winkel, Abigail Winkel, Tyler Petrone, Kayla Bennett, Trenton Grimes, Amberly Grimes; 16 great grandchildren; brothers Chuck H.
