

Mr. Johnson departed this life on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the age of 93. He was born on August 3, 1928 in Salis, Mississippi to the late George and Beatrice Johnson. He received his early education in Salis, MS. Prior to relocating to Jackson, Michigan he was employed with Cilcote Construction Company in Kansas. Then in 1963 he moved to Jackson and his employment included the City of Jackson, Fry Crisp Batter Mix and as a self-employed concrete and mason worker. He was a hardworking man and retired at the age of 80. In addition to his parents Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline, four siblings, George, Jr., Willie Lee, John and Margaret as well as a grandson. He leaves to cherish his memory, four children, Willie and Jeanette of Little Rock, Arkansas, Carl of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Nigel of Jackson, Michigan, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Walter Lee, Vicky (John) Toby and Ida Ruth Malone. His three eldest children’s mother, Jesse Lee; friend and caregiver and mother of his youngest child, Maxine Nelson as well as numerous nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends, Curtis Bridges, George Brown, John Brandon, Amigo and Richard Peterson. Cremation has taken place and a service honoring Mr. Johnson’s life will be held at the Church of God Church (140 W. South Street Jackson, 49203) on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
