Lenore Marilyn Reed

She was born January 31, 1932, in Perry, Michigan to Earl and Mary Short. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend whose kindness and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her.

Lenore dedicated more than 33 years to the Springport School System as a school bus driver, safely transporting generations of students with care and dependability.

She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and spending winters in Florida with her husband, Art.

Lenore was preceded in death by husbands Raymond Bender and Arthur Reed; sisters Doris Roach of Perry, Michigan, Florence Hoose of Morrice, Michigan, and Marian Arens of Lansing, Michigan; children Linda Richardson of Michigan Center, Michigan and Gerald Bender of Springport, Michigan.

She is survived by her daughters; MaryEtta (Dale) Hopkins of Marshall, Michigan and Stacy (Todd Wicht) Bender of Jackson, Michigan; daughter-in-law Camy Bender of Lansing, Michigan and son-in-law Scott Richardson of Marshall, Michigan along with 9 cherished grandchildren: Heather Cooper, Crystal Richardson, Beth Richardson, Nicholas (Megan) Hopkins, Jared (Brooke) Bender, Megan Bender,Josh Padelt, Tayler (Eddie) Niecko, and Lily Thompson. Also numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Jackson St. Vincent De Paul store, where Lenore worked for many years, 1509 E. Michigan Ave, Jackson.

She will be remembered for her quick wit, love of family, and the warmth she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A graveside service for Lenore will be held Monday, October 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Springport Cemetery, 100 East Main Street, Springport, MI.
