Macil "Jean" J. Allen

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away at home with family by her side on December 7, 2024 at the age of 99. Jean was born in Gauley Mills, West Virginia on January 20, 1925 to parents Delbert and Martha Hopkins. Jean was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ (Partnership Place) for many years. She also was a member of the SERA Club and the Civil service (WWII). She worked for Sparks-Withington, Industries-Camp Waterloo, the Unemployment Office for the State of Michigan, and Sam’s club. Jean leaves to cherish her memory grandchildren Jennifer (Terrie Macnicol) Burdick, Brian (Sandy) Decker, and Gary II (Mary) Reasoner; great-grandchildren Gavin Decker, Kristina (Tyler) Wilson, Jacqueline Reasoner, Camron Reasoner, Ryan Reasoner, Zack (Bethany) Reasoner, Jack Reasoner, and Sedrick Reasoner, great-great grandchildren Thoren and Pippen Wilson and Aiden and Flynn Reasoner; a host of nieces and nephews; and son-in-law Gary Reasoner, her caretaker for many years. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Gerald Decker and Norman Allen; children Lonnie Decker, Linda Reasoner, and Larry Decker; and her seven sisters and brothers. Per her wishes cremation has been chosen, and a celebration of Jean’s life will be held on January 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM at St. John’s United Church of Christ (801 South Mechanic Street, Jackson, Michigan) with Rev. Judy Goodrow officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until time of service on January 12, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ (Partnership Place) (801 South Mechanic Street, Jackson, Michigan 49202).
