On March 1, 2018, Marjoranna Carpenter departed her earthy surroundings to join her family in heaven. Samuel Carpenter (1978) father, Gwendolyn Carpenter (1972) mother, Charles Carpenter (2012) brother. Born into this earth on January 8, 1948, Marjoranna was the youngest of three siblings. Her vibrant spirit and servant mentality brought life and vigor to everything she touched. She was born in New Albany, Indiana, where she was always surrounded by family, which was extremely important to her. At an early age her parents moved to Jackson, Michigan which is where she built her life. Growing up in the family’s church, Community African Methodist Episcopal Church, she accepted Christ at an early age. Like her mother, Marjoranna was no stranger to serving and working in various capacities for the church. Most recently she served as Chairperson of the Finance Committee, and in administrative support roles to the senior pastor. Marjoranna was instrumental in fundraising initiatives like Hoops for Halos and Golf Scrambles, along with occasional event planning. Her desire was to ensure that the church was financially solvent. For 32 years she worked for Jackson County as a 911 Dispatcher for the Sheriff’s Department. Her servant mentality transferred into the workplace and landed her public recognition for a lifesaving call. In addition she was a Training Officer for the Department and Captain of the Sheriff’s Department Team for "Relay for Life" in Jackson, Michigan just to name a few things! In June of 2005 she retired from Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and committed herself to serving others in caregiving, church, and family. When Marjoranna became ill, her faith expanded and she never stop expressing just how good God is!
