

Age 54, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Matthew is preceded in death by his parents, David and Sally Urbaniak, and his grandparents, Harold and Jessie Dexter and Joseph and Ethel Urbaniak. He is survived by his son, Cameron Harris; sister, Bethany (John) McCune; and nephews, Ethan and Alden Scheib.
Matthew was born September 4, 1967. He graduated from Michigan Center High School in 1985 and attended DeVry University. Matthew grew up working with his family at Sal’s 5th Ave. and continued his career in the family businesses: Caribbean Connection Oasis, Automatic Microfilm, and Automatic Imaging. He retired in 2019.
Matthew, like his mom, was talented at driving backhoe loaders, dozers, and tractors. Matthew loved making people laugh. He also enjoyed a good bargain, garage sale, and flea market. He collected clocks, swords, and diecast construction equipment models; he also enjoyed dressing in costume for a Renaissance Festival. Above all else, he loved spending time with Cameron.
Family and friends are invited to come share memories at Burden-Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home, 1806 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson, beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, with a service following at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Red Cross.
