Michael E. Burke

Of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deanna; children, Larry, Steven and Michael Burke and Kim (James) Eley; grandchildren, Brandy Miller, Shanna Harden and Jamie Eley; great-grandchildren, Taylor Miller, Alton Thorton and Melody Reason; as well as Carol (Steve) Sharp; siblings, Dolores Repasy, Janice (George) Whiting, Patrick (Linda) Burke, Jackie (Jack) Hunter, Dennis (Gloria) Burke and Stephani (Orson) Cardon; sister-in-law, Lois Burke; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and John Burke. Mike was born to LaVerne and Edith Burke in Jackson. After High School he joined the U.S. Navy and then returned to Jackson where he raised his family and retired from Central Machine. He was a member of the American Legion Rose City Post 324 and a former member of the Forty & Eight. He enjoyed sports and was a Wolverine fan. A celebration of his life is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Brookside United Methodist Church, 4000 Francis St. Jackson, MI 49203 with Pastor Chad Parmalee officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions to the family would be greatly appreciated. According to his wishes, cremation will follow.
