Pastor Poole was born in Jackson, Michigan on November 15,1945 to Alphonse and Fair May (Copeland) Poole. He graduated from Jackson High School, class of 1963, where he played football and was co-captain of the football team. Pastor Poole proudly served in the United States Air Force and returned to Jackson after his discharge. It was here that he met his loving wife, Brenda, whom he married in 1969. Their family was complete with the birth of their daughter, Theresa, several years later. Pastor Poole retired from Consumers Energy after 38 years, beginning his employment as a janitor and ending in management. Throughout his career, he continued to educate himself, taking various classes and attending trainings. He was ordained as a Pastor in 1983 and counted it a blessing to speak truth into the lives of many men and women. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was blessed with the privilege to share the Gospel at Agape Christian Center Church. Pastor Poole also served 24 years on the Board at CP Federal Credit Union where he was Chairman of the Board for six years. He also presided as President of the Ministerial Association for many years, was a member of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) and served on many other boards and committees. Pastor Poole taught in the prison ministry for many years. Recently he experienced great pleasure from teaching bible study at the Department of Aging. He loved spending time with his daughter, son-in-law and five grandsons. He and Brenda were a constant fixture and encouragement at the grandsons' many sporting, educational and musical engagements, where his presence will be greatly missed. Pastor Poole enjoyed weekly Morning Prayer services, golfing with his friends, and being part of several special "breakfast clubs". Pastor Poole went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brenda (McDonald) Poole and their only daughter, Theresa (Anthony) Horne; five grandsons, Anthony Michael, Reese, Alphonse, Solomon and Brendan; sister, Virginia Roberson; mother-in-law, Delois McDonald as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family, church members, and friends.
