Michael Joseph Shipley

A beautiful, loving soul went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the age of the age of 85. He is survived by children Laura (Jack) Roles, Lisa (Michael) Dixon, and Leslie (Rick) Rice; grandchildren Jennifer (David) Beal and Lindsey Dixon; great grandchildren Ethan and Cora Beal; and brother Loren (Sharon) Shipley. Michael was born to Loren and Charlotte Shipley in Jackson, MI on March 27, 1936. He graduated from Jackson High School and married Patsy Lake in 1957. Michael was a Navy veteran, serving in Korea. Michael spent his career at Jackson All Star Dairy. He was a joyful Christian, who loved serving others through his church, Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church. He also was a volunteer for Disability Connections and enjoyed singing in the choir in his spare time. Michael loved to travel with Patsy in their RV to places like Yellowstone National Park and Mackinac. He also enjoyed square dancing with Patsy. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021. at 11:00 AM at Charles J. Burden and Son Funeral Home, 1806 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson with Michael Mason officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, October 1, 2021, from 10:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Disability Connections or the Music Department of Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church.
