

Milan “Djedo” Koprivica successfully completed his training for the Olympics and has made it to the Heavenly Kingdom to receive his heavenly crown of victory. After fighting the good fight here on earth, Milan passed away on August 15, 2017 at the age of 88. He was loved by all. He truly was a selfless, giving soul. He gave his love and riches to every person whom he encountered. He was born in Galichnik, Yugoslavia to Kristo and Rada Koprivica on September 1, 1928. At the age of 17, he joined the Dobro Vojici in WWII. After the war he immigrated to England, then to Canada, and finally settling down in Detroit, MI marrying his loving wife Ellen on January 16, 1960. He was a long time member of the Ravanica Choir of St. Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Church, and Choir member of St. Demetrius Orthodox Church for the past 7 years living in Jackson. A former Project Manager, he helped oversee construction of hospitals, skyscrapers, and Orthodox Churches in cities in the Detroit area and Canada. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Ellen of 49 years; sister, Milica and brother, Dusan. He is survived by sister, Lubica; sisters-in-law, Lucille Radulovich and Dorothy Conrad; sons, Dragan (Petra), Father Dusan (Patricia), Alex (Susan), Milan (Traci); and daughter, Christina Koprivica; grandchildren, Jovanka (Ben), Milena, Angelo, Aidyn, Bryn, and Roman; along with many nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at St. Demetrius Orthodox Church, 3043 Seymour Road Jackson, Michigan on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. Internment at Holy Dormition Monastery, Rives Junction, Saturday at 3:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at the church Friday, August 18, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with Panihida at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Demetrius Orthodox Church Icon fund or St. Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Church.
