Miriam Rachael (Syrja) Kleimola, left us on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 but, not as one who had no hope. She is celebrating with her Savior and loved ones that preceded her, her husband, Frank; a baby daughter; granddaughter, Rachael; and her siblings Hilja, Lillian, Helen, Gladys, Thomas, and Dagney. Miriam was born in Kimball, Wisconsin on December 29, 1920 to Finnish immigrant parents, Aina Ulriikka (Luhtanen) and Felix Syrja. When Miriam was about 14 years old, her mother sold the farm in Kimball and she and her sister Dagney moved with their mother to Ironwood, Michigan. It was in Ironwood where she met and married Frank Kleimola, another child of Finnish immigrants. They were married 58 years. We siblings, Daniel (Margaret), South Bend Indiana, David (Linda), Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dale (Gail) Jackson MI, Christine, Ypsilanti, MI, Ula (William) Lauterbach, Horton MI, Janel (Barry) Mueller, Richmond, MI grieve the loss of our mother. She will be missed by her nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, nieces and nephews, and foster children, Tina Curl and Robert Bradley. While Miriam, a stay at home mother, was not outspoken about her Christian faith and her belief in Jesus as her Savior, she showed it in her daily life. Miriam and Frank ensured their children were instilled with a love for God and His Son Jesus Christ. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was active in numerous church-related activities: Altar Guild, Sunday school teacher, quilting group. A part of her has been left behind by the many quilts, afghans, dolls, stuffed toys, treetop angels and many more things her skillful hands put together for her family. The family will receive friends for visitation at Chas. J. Burden & Son funeral home on Monday, May 18, 2020 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. You will be escorted into the funeral home in limited numbers in accordance with CDC guidelines. All will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing. Mrs. Kleimola will be entombed next to her husband at Hillcrest Memorial Park during a private family committal. A memorial service for all will be planned for the future.

The family is most grateful for the special care given mom by Spring Arbor Assisted Living and Southern Care Hospice Services.

Those who wish may send contributions to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Jackson, MI redeemerjackson.org/give or the Gift of a Bear program of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital mottchildren.org/giving/priorities/gift-bear.

I didn’t get to see her because I wasn’t able to go to the family meeting in Michigan but I know she was a nice lady from the things that my Mom, Patricia, has said. Please accept my condolences and know that my thoughts are with you. Christine

You may not have been my actual grandmother by blood but from the moment I arrived at your house at the age of 1 years old till I got adopted at the age of 2 you loved me as your own. From the time I left your foster home to live with my adopted family you consider me as your granddaughter and loved me as such. You have been my inspiration and my best friend. Till we meet again always know I love you.
Love always,
Tina
