
Age 87, formerly of Dexter, passed away in Jackson on Sunday June 14, 2015 under the loving care of her nephew and his wife, John and Evelyn Clee, as well as by the very caring staff of Legends Alzheimer’s Center. Nancy was born June 16, 1927 in Trenton, Michigan the daughter of John and Edena Clee. She moved to Dexter in 1969 with her devoted husband Clarence “Pete” Walker. Nancy was very active in the community she loved, serving as charter member and treasurer of the Dexter Area Historical Society and president of the Heritage Guild. Nancy is best known for her work on the Parks Commission where she devoted her efforts on behalf of Warrior Creek Park. Nancy worshipped at St. James Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild since 1984. Nancy also served her Lord as a member of the Episcopal Church Woman’s Association, the Pastoral Care Committee and the Prayer Chain. Nancy is survived by several nieces, nephews and by the three grandchildren of her husband Pete; John Labatt, Steve (Peggy) Labatt and Jodi (Mark) Schofield and many great grandchildren. She leaves two very close friends, Bill and Mary “Topper” Maloney who helped keep her safe and comfortable especially during her declining years. Funeral services will be held at St. James Episcopal Church 3279 Broad St. Dexter, on Friday June 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with The Reverend Carol A. Mader officiating. Private Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home 1806 E. Michigan Ave. Jackson, on Thursday from 1-4 P.M. and at the church Friday 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Contributions in Nancy’s memory may be directed to the Church.
