Kellison King passed away peacefully on July 2 in her Jackson, MI home, one week before her 81st birthday. Kellison will be remembered for her visionary ideals, enjoyment of philosophical conversation, creative mind, and immense talent. A prolific artist, she leaves a legacy of beauty and the gift of numerous works of art.
Born Patricia Ann Kellison in Chicago, IL and raised in Hammond, IN, she graduated from Indiana University before moving to Midland, MI where she taught kindergarten. She raised her children on an idyllic farm in Freeland, MI before relocating to Harbor Springs, MI in the late 1980s. Kellison owned and operated Quarters gallery on Main Street for 22 years before retiring in Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Helen (Hopman) Kellison and brother Roger Kellison. She is survived by brother Jim Kellison (Terri Wright) and her four beloved children Grayson King (Karen Vastine), Gretchen King (Eric Lindau), Gib King (Barb Krejcik), and Courtney King Dye (Jason Dye), as well as three cherished grandchildren River, Bailey, and Zed Dye.
Her body was donated to U of M per her wishes, and her family will spread her ashes at a later date. If you wish to honor Kellison please listen to her favorite song: "Vincent" by Don McLean.
