Patrick "Pat" James Melling

Of Jackson, MI passed away on October 31, 2022 at the age of 68. Pat was born in Jackson on May 8, 1954, to parents Kenneth A. Melling Jr., and Audrey M. (McPeck) Melling. Pat began working at Diecast Corporation at age 17 and retired as a Quality Control Inspector at the age of 40. Pat went to Grass Lake Schools but later earned his high school diploma in 1988 from Ackerson Lake Adult Education. He was a tradesman with versatile skills and could fix almost anything. Pat was truly proud of his grandchildren, the biggest joy of his life was living through their eyes. His dog Callie was his shadow and brought so much comfort to his life. Pat is survived by his children, Patrick (Kelly) Melling and Alison (Jon) Cristian; grandchildren, Drake Melling, Andrew Melling, Emma Melling, Logan Cristian, and Matthew Cristian; siblings, Margo (Floyd) Coppernoll and William (Rebecca) Melling; and dog Callie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth A. Melling Jr. and Audrey M. Melling and his brother, Michael K. Melling. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 East Michigan Ave) with visitation from 11:00 AM until time of service with Chaplin Kyle Herrick officiating. Pat will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Clinic, PO Box 4123, Jackson, MI 49204
