Of Jackson, passed away at the age of 84 at his home on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Norma Jean Miles; three children, Charles (Tami) Miles, William Miles and John (Kathy) Miles; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Kathy M. Pletcher; niece Teresa Pletcher and sister in-law, Cherie Rehmel. Ray was born in Jackson to Ray A. and Juanita May (Calhoun) Miles on May 10, 1929. After graduating from East Jackson High School he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Ray returned to Jackson, where he married and raised his family. He was employed at Walker Manufacturing and later for Clark Equipment for 17 years until his retirement. Ray had a passion for history, especially Jackson, MI history. His family settled in Grass Lake from England in 1837. He was a hardworking man who will be greatly missed by family and friends. A service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Michael Mason officiating. Visitation will be this evening from 4 to 7 PM and again on Monday from 12:00 PM until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors.
