Richard Wayne Messick, 88, of New London, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. Born on April 3, 1937, he was the beloved son of Captain Harry J. Messick USN, and Stella (Piascik) Messick.
In 1957, Richard proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, beginning a distinguished career of service to his country. He continued to serve in the Marine Corps Reserves until 1979, achieving the rank Master Sergeant (MSGT).
Following his military service, Richard built a successful career in aerospace as a math technician. His sharp mind and steady work ethic contributed to advancements in the field, reflecting his lifelong commitment to precision and excellence.
He is survived by his daughters, Lorie Messick, Lynn Lineberry, and Lisa Smith, as well as seven grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his service, his intellect, and his uncompromising individuality.
A private service will be held to honor his life at Jackson Crematory Services on December 1, 2025 at 10 am during a witnessed cremation.
