Robert Russell Metevia

Of Somerset Center, MI. passed away on April 16, 2023 at the age of 84. Robert was born to parents Sylvester and Catherine Metevia on May 16, 1938. Robert retired from the Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. He also spent 14 years in the Navy and Navy Reserves, and retired from the Army Reserves after 12 years of service. Robert volunteered with ROTC, Sower Ministry, was a church deacon and enjoyed doing odd jobs to help others. He was an Order of the Arrow Boy Scout and served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. Robert loved camping all over the USA. He loved ice cream and rice pudding and cookies. Robert loved the Lord and always gave out gospel tracts that looked like trillion dollar bills. Robert is survived by his wife Dianne of 36 wonderful years ; children Kemberli (Jerome) Burkey, Christine (Michael) Kovacs, Troy (Maureen) Winslow, and Cory (Adrienne) Winslow; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Micheal. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Burden Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home, 1806 E. Michigan Ave, Jackson, MI, where he will receive Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
