Of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the age of 93. Bob is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Joyce Oberst; four sons, Robert (Debra) of Jackson, Larry of Grand Rapids, Timothy (Paula) of Delaware, Ohio and Thomas (Cristy) Of Jackson; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sally Ilcewicz of Bolingbrook, Illinois and Sue (Tony) Napolitano of Brookfield, Illinois as well as numerous nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. Bob was born on December 28, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Helen Oberst, step-son of Mickey Dalton and is a 1945 Graduate of Jackson High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Michigan and attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1952. Bob met and married Joyce Walter in 1955 in Oak Park, Illinois. Over Bob’s professional career he worked for Commonwealth Associates, Comerica Bank; then retiring from General Materials in 1990. He was also involved in various Jackson area community organizations, being a 60-year member of the Jackson Host Lions Club. Bob had a strong Faith in the Lord and was a very active member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson where he served on various boards and committees during his 62-year membership at the Church. Per his request cremation has been chosen and a memorial service will at a later date. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Vista Grande Villa for their outstanding care, in addition to the compassionate care provide by Southern Care Hospice in the final days of his life. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Vista Grande Villa or the Jackson Host Lions Club.
