Russ was born on November 20, 1952, in Jackson, Michigan. He was a man who never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and once you became his friend, you were usually a friend for life. He loved being around people, telling stories, and making memories with the people he cared about.
One of Russ’s greatest passions was riding his trike. He was proud to be part of the ABATE biker organization and loved the freedom, open road, and especially the people he met along the way. His trike was more than a motorcycle; it was a part of who he was and a source of some of his favorite memories.
Russ also loved music, watching old John Wayne movies, and cheering on NASCAR. He enjoyed the simple things in life and, more than anything, enjoyed having good people around him. He will be remembered for his love of riding, his big personality, and the way he could make people feel welcome.
Russ was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce; his grandparents, Paul and Helen Doty; his father, James Sharpe; and his mother, Patricia Sharpe.
He leaves behind his three children, Joseph Sharpe (Karen), Jennifer Albert (Jason), and Aundrea Grimes; Step-children, Kathy, Brian, and Donnie; his granddaughters, Allyson, Megan, Jaysianne, Sylvia, Pay’tin, Margaret, and Samantha; step-grandchildren, Paige, Kiley, Noah, and Nicholas; and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Sharpe; nieces Terri and Tori; nephew Ricky; and many extended family members and lifelong friends who will miss him deeply.
Russ’s life was about people. It was about family, friendships, laughter, riding, and the memories made along the way. While his passing was sudden and heartbreaking, the impact he had on the people who knew and loved him will never be forgotten.
Per Russ’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services.
Ride on. Until we meet again.
