Of Jackson, MI passed away on January 23, 2022, at the age of 34. Seth was born in Jackson on March 5, 1987, to parents Michael and Vicke Kofflin. Seth was a 2005 graduate of Jackson High School where he studied the arts and building trades. Fatima, St. Stans (Sister Joseph), JCMS and Lumen were all part of his education. The JPS Back-to-Back program and a lasting relationship with his French family provided Seth an opportunity to travel and experience the world. Scouting, camping, and hiking gave Seth an appreciation of what Mother Nature had to offer. His youthful involvement in soccer, cross country and wrestling morphed into skateboarding, snowboarding, cycling, and swimming. Before he could tie his shoes, Seth was the music guy, always banging it! His soundtrack included everything from rock n roll, country, to hip hop. Seth delighted in finding a "new" old band on vinyl. As an artist, Seth was highly regarded by the local art community. His artist contemporaries admired his ability to fulfill his vision on any media he chose. Seth was generous with his art and his talents, giving freely to his family and friends. He was a lifetime lover of all animals with a special ability to find the best pets, be it on the streets or at Aunt Ann's. Seth was passionate in all his relationships with family and friends, especially the children in his life. He had an infinite capacity for love. When you were in with Seth, you were in for life. So much love. Seth's 'baby cuz HK' put it eloquently..."like having a big brother, his presence was protective and strong. His mind worked so beautifully different, as if he were on a different plane than us, which he expressed through his art, his deep words and his overall charismatic affect. I feel not only is our family left with a hole, but so are his friends. I hope we can fill these holes with pastel blues and lavender love for one another as he would have done." Seth is survived by his parents Michael and Vicke Kofflin; siblings Sarah (Joe) Biggs and Paul (Yamma) Kofflin; nieces Penelope and Frankie; nephew Eli; and countless other beloved family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jerry and Judy Smiley and Charles and Catherine Kofflin and nephew Stormy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3370 Spring Arbor Rd, Jackson, MI 49203 or [email protected]. May the souls of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. As a tribute to the vibrant person Seth was, wear your colorful apparel to the celebration of life.
