Sherry accepted the lord at a young age and was determined to make it into the kingdom of heaven. When her daughter, Shaquor was born with a heart block, Sherry made a promise to devote her baby to God. She kept that promise and made sure Shaquor grew up knowing the lord. Sherry’s spiritual influence was so powerful that Shaquor, too, accepted the lord at a young age. Sherry enjoyed going to church, reading, and spending time with her family and was a member of the Summit S.D.A. Church in Jackson, MI until her death.
She graduated from Parkside High School in 1982 in Jackson, MI. She continued her education at Jackson Community College to pursue a Nursing Degree until she decided to move to Denver, CO. In the past, Sherry worked as a nurse’s aide taking care of senior citizens until her health slowly deteriorated. Although she became ill, Sherry did not allow her sickness to get the best of her and was still able to attend numerous church functions and other events. Throughout this long-suffering illness, Sherry still smiled and showed a tremendous amount of strength. Her faith in God was so strong that she was determined to survive whatever obstacles came her way. This was a part of Sherry’s award winning personality.
Sherry leaves to cherish her memories; parents, Henry and Bessie Hardrick; six siblings, Terry (Lori), Frederick, Gregory, LaSandra, LaShonnda, and LaTanya; grandmother, Eva White-Williams; a host of nephews, nieces, other family members; friends; brother and sister in Christ, Melvin and Margaret Lewis; best friends, Lisa Weathers and Meshelle Taylor; and all who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her most precious daughter, Shaquor Houston and grandparents, Willie Mae Hardrick, Gilbert Johnson, and Warren White.
